Kranti (Revolution) empowers girls from Mumbai's red-light areas to become agents of social change. Born and raised in the red-light district, the girls often face harsh realities early on in their lives. Using drama, they challenge clichés and misconceptions surrounding sex workers and their families.
In 2014, Kranti's girls wrote, directed and performed a play in dozens of theatres and festivals across the world. Their engaging performances helped change the mindsets of thousands of people about sex workers and their children. Kranti's latest play, 'Lal Batti Express (Red-Light Express)', is a compilation of their life stories and experiences. It is a journey of Krantikaris (Revolutionaries) through their past, present and future.
