|Event Name||Truth and Democracy: A roundtable|
|Start Date||19th Sep 2017 4:00pm|
|End Date||19th Sep 2017 6:00pm|
Date and time: 16:00-18:00 on Tuesday 19 September
Have we always lived in a post-truth world? Should we worry when politicians lie to us? How important is truth for a healthy democracy? What is truth anyway?
Join us for an exciting roundtable with three leading specialists to discuss these - and other - questions at the Centre for the Study of Modern and Contemporary History's inaugural event!
The three speakers will be Prof Christina Boswell (Edinburgh), Prof Richard Whatmore (St Andrews) and Prof Steve Fuller (Warwick).
The discussion will be chaired by Centre director, Dr Emile Chabal (Edinburgh).
The event will take the form of a roundtable, with the speakers offering brief reflections on the subject from their own historical, philosophical and political perspectives. This will be followed by an open question-and-answer session.
Anyone concerned about the past and future of democracy, or simply with an interest in contemporary politics, should come along. It promises to be a fascinating and thought-provoking event!
